Style Guide

For any long-form posts, this blog uses The Chicago Manual of Style, Fifteenth Edition, and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition.

Grammar

In this blog, it is acceptable to split an infinitive, especially when not splitting the infinitive makes the writing stilted and awkward:  ”to boldly go”, not “to go boldly”.

Punctuation

Commas and periods shall fall outside quotation marks, unless the punctuation is included in the quoted material.

For short-form posts, any number of exceptions apply.

It is acceptable to begin a sentence with “and” or other conjunctions depending on the tone of the blog post.

Sentence fragments may be used sparingly.

Swearing should be avoided, but may be used sparingly for particular emphasis.
